Social runs, expert advice and marathon-weekend celebrations bring London’s running community together

March 2026/…As London prepares for one of the most exciting moments in the running calendar, The Westin London City is inviting runners and the wider community to lace up their trainers and join a series of social runs and wellbeing events in the lead up to the iconic London Marathon.
Perfectly positioned on the marathon route in the heart of the City, The Westin London City is building momentum through its RunWESTIN programme, which helps guests maintain their running routines while travelling while also creating opportunities for London’s running community to come together. In April and June, the hotel will host two community runs designed to celebrate the joy of running while offering participants the chance to explore some of the capital’s most scenic routes. Open to everyone and complimentary to join, the runs invite both seasoned runners and those simply looking for a social jog to take part.
A Social Start to the Easter Weekend
On Thursday 2 April, runners are invited to kick start the Easter weekend with a relaxed and sociable 5km run along the Thames. Participants will meet at the hotel from 6:00pm before heading out on a scenic riverside route at 6:30pm. Designed to be welcoming and inclusive, the run will be led by The Westin London City’s running ambassador, Charlie Watson, also known as @TheRunnerBeans. As an NHS dietitian and 16-time marathon runner, Watson brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the evening. After the run, participants will return to the hotel to celebrate the start of the Easter holiday weekend with drinks, light bites and the chance to connect with fellow runners.

Celebrating Global Running Day in the City
Running returns to the hotel on 4 June to mark Global Running Day, when more than 100 runners are expected to gather for an evening run through the capital. Setting off at 6:30pm, the route will take participants past some of London’s most recognisable landmarks before finishing back at the hotel for a relaxed post-run gathering. The evening is as much about community as it is about running. Once back at The Westin London City, runners will be welcomed with a drink, light refreshments and the opportunity to unwind with Hyperice recovery treatments, while catching up with fellow running enthusiasts.

Looking Ahead to the London Marathon
With the hotel located directly on the route of the London Marathon, marathon weekend promises to be a lively and welcoming occasion for runners and spectators alike. In April, The Westin London City will also unveil a new accessible running route, designed to ensure even more people can enjoy exploring the city. Marathon weekend will see the launch of the hotel’s inaugural accessible Shakeout Run, with those preparing for the big event being able to build personalised carb-load boxes, as well as receive expert pre-race nutrition advice from Charlie Watson.
On race day itself, the hotel will open its doors to the wider community, welcoming supporters, families and spectators, whether they are staying at the hotel or simply stopping by to soak up the atmosphere. Visitors will be able to create signs at a poster-making station, enjoy interactive window art and capture the moment at a photo booth, while complimentary yoga sessions will help runners and supporters alike find a moment of calm. For those looking to fully unwind before or after the race, the Heavenly Spa by Westin offers the chance to enjoy treatments or a swim in the pool, a welcome reward after months of training.
